Automation Engineer | Montague, MI

Salary Range: $77,000 - $122,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement industrial automation solutions for manufacturing processes.
• Program and configure Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs), and SCADA systems.
• Troubleshoot, maintain, and optimize existing automated production equipment and control systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements through automation.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for automation systems and controls.
• Ensure all automation designs and implementations comply with industry standards and safety regulations.
• Provide technical support and training to maintenance and production personnel on automation systems.

Recommended Qualifications

• Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000) and HMI/SCADA development.
• Experience with industrial robotics programming and integration (e.g., FANUC, KUKA, ABB).
• Strong understanding of industrial control systems, instrumentation, and sensor technologies.
• Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (e.g., EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, Modbus TCP/IP).
• Proven ability to troubleshoot, optimize, and maintain automated manufacturing processes.
• Familiarity with manufacturing safety standards and machine safeguarding principles.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with industrial robotics (e.g., FANUC, KUKA, ABB) integration and programming.
• Proficiency in industrial vision systems (e.g., Cognex, Keyence) for quality inspection or guidance.
• Familiarity with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) integration with control systems.
• Experience with data analytics platforms or higher-level programming languages (e.g., Python) for custom automation solutions.
