Overview We are seeking a Stationary Engineer to join TerraTherm, Inc. This role is responsible for the safe operation of boilers and other process equipment on thermal remediation projects. Reports to the Operation Field Supervisor. This mid-level position operates as part of a team on a wide range of project and task assignments. Responsibilities Exhibit a positive attitude and promote teamwork; support company goals. Maintain optimal operation of mechanical systems by performing routine inspections and maintenance, monitoring metering equipment, and adjusting levels as necessary. Maintain equipment with daily inspections, cleaning, filter replacement, and identify/repair/replace malfunctioning components. Work closely with project management and engineering teams. Ensure safety by monitoring safety equipment, identifying concerns, and taking appropriate action. Perform necessary repairs and replacements; obtain replacement parts and upgrade components while considering cost and system efficiency. Collaborate with site manager and lead operator on monitoring tasks, scheduling tasks, providing instruction to less experienced colleagues, and giving feedback on performance of system and team. Maintain licenses and stay updated on applicable safety laws and regulations to ensure full compliance. Keep Equipment Service Reports current and document inspections, maintenance, repairs, and any changes to the system. Sustain knowledge of developments in relevant technology and make recommendations to maximize systems. Perform occasional physical tasks (light to medium weight, lifting, pushing, pulling, stair or ladder climbing) for 8- to 12-hour shifts as required. Skills/Aptitudes Self-starter; able to work under minimum supervision. Experience with complex systems or industrial applications. Good communication and reporting skills. Strong recordkeeping and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and stay focused in chaotic environments. Qualifications/Certifications High school diploma or GED; and Five (5) years of experience as a licensed boiler operator or three (3) years as an assistant to a licensed stationary engineer, or a mechanical engineering degree from an accredited school; and Passing grade on a written, oral, or practical examination administered by the chief examiner (as defined in section 14-90). Holders of a stationary engineering license are eligible to operate the following equipment: Any stationary engine or prime mover of cumulative horsepower Any refrigeration machinery Steam or hot water boilers Diesel generator Air conditioning machinery Hydraulics system Gas generator Steam turbine A boiler operator or stationary engineer shall oversee all boilers, stationary engines, prime movers, diesel engines, gas engines, and steam turbines from 30 HP to 100 HP. A stationary engineer or refrigeration machine operator shall oversee refrigeration equipment over 100 tons (Group 1 refrigerants) or 15 tons or more using Group 2 and Group 3 refrigerants (as defined in section 14-88). A stationary engineer shall oversee all boilers, stationary engines, prime movers, diesel engines, gas engines, and steam turbines over 100 HP.
