Coach - Assistant Cross Country (0.5 FTE) @ Moses Lake High School The Moses Lake School District is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Assistant Coach for the Moses Lake High School Cross Country Team. The District is committed to teaching and developing useful, life‑long skills in its student‑athletes and strives to provide the best opportunities possible for each student‑athlete’s success. Moses Lake High School is a 4A school in the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) and a member of the Columbia Basin Big Nine Athletic Conference (CBBN). CBBN teams participate in WIAA State Championships and enjoy a strong reputation for competitiveness across 22 sports. Required Qualifications Demonstrated ability to effectively carry out the duties of the position and comply with the policies, procedures, and expectations set forth by the principal, athletic director, and the Moses Lake School District. Exhibited knowledge of cross‑country coaching, demonstrated technical skills, and successful experience teaching these skills to secondary school student‑athletes. Valid First Aid and CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain prior to the start of the season. Ability to meet WIAA age requirements applicable to the position. Organizational skills and the ability to ensure a well‑managed program. High School diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.). Additional Requirements Coaches must complete sport‑specific WIAA coaching standard courses by the third week of the season. Assist the head coach in carrying out his/her responsibilities and supporting the team’s goals. Organize, supervise, and evaluate practice sessions for athletes. Implement a safety plan that includes teaching proper techniques, fundamentals, and emergency protocols. Maintain cleanliness and safety of facilities, secure equipment, and follow all safety rules. Communicate with parents regarding athletes’ attendance, discipline, and injury status. Demonstrate appropriate sportsmanship with athletes, peers, and the public, especially during events. Motivate athletes, provide constructive feedback, and keep them informed of available camps, weight programs, and skill‑development opportunities. Attend all staff meetings, scout assignments, and coaching clinics as directed by the head coach. Adhere to scheduled facility times and uphold all WIAA, league, district, and building rules and policies. Maintain mandatory SafeSchools training annually and ensure a safe environment for all students.
