Overview:

We are seeking a locally based HR Consultant to provide hands-on HR support on a part-time, as-needed basis. This role is ideal for an experienced HR professional who enjoys working with small organizations to help them build strong people systems, ensure compliance, and support a healthy workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities:

• Advise on HR best practices, policies, and procedures aligned with California employment laws.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, and employee file compliance.
• Assist with performance management and documentation.
• Guide and support leadership in employee relations matters.
• Conduct HR audits and recommend improvements to HR systems.
• Assist with HR process documentation to build scalable practices.
• Support DEI practices and initiatives, ensuring a welcoming workplace.
• Be available for periodic on-site visits for file audits or training, as needed.

Qualifications:

• Proven HR experience, preferably with small businesses or early childhood education settings.
• Strong knowledge of California employment laws and compliance.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently while providing clear, actionable guidance.
• Located in the [Bay Area / San Francisco] for occasional on-site needs.
• HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP, etc.) is a plus.
