Job Description

Quality Assurance Manager

We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Quality Assurance Manager to lead our food manufacturing plant operations in Indianapolis, IN. This critical role involves managing all facets of Food Safety and Quality Assurance, ensuring adherence to regulatory compliance, driving continuous improvement, and fostering a culture of quality across the facility. You will be integral to the plant's leadership team, directing a team of 12 to uphold the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities

Food Safety & Compliance:

  • Oversee and ensure compliance with all regulations and standards, including USDA, FDA, and CFIA requirements.
  • Audit & Certification Leadership:
  • Lead HACCP, SQF, and FSMA programs. Act as the primary contact for regulatory and third-party audits.
  • Team Leadership:
  • Guide and develop a team of quality assurance professionals, instilling a strong sense of ownership for Food Safety and Quality.
  • Training & Development:
  • Implement comprehensive training programs on GMPs and Quality standards for new and existing staff.
  • Continuous Improvement:
  • Drive quality performance, focusing on complaint reduction, audit readiness, and incident prevention.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration:
  • Work closely with Operations, Maintenance, R&D, and Sales to ensure product quality and resolve customer issues.
  • Vendor Quality Management:
  • Collaborate with Corporate QA to manage supplier performance and drive corrective actions.
  • Documentation & SOPs:
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures and manage departmental budget.
  • Sanitation & Environmental Monitoring:
  • Ensure robust sanitation and environmental monitoring programs are in place.
Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Biology, or a related field.

At least 7 years of experience in Quality Assurance within the Food or Pharmaceutical industry.

Proven leadership skills with a strong understanding of HACCP, GMPs, FSMA, and SQF codes.

Experience in continuous improvement and root cause analysis.
