Job Description

Administer and supervise Halmar’s Health and Safety Plans and Site Security Plans for the Bay Area Project, at the project leadership level. This position reports to the Corporate Health and Safety Director.

Major Duties & Responsibilities, include but are not limited to:

• Ensure subcontractors and consultants prepare and maintain their Health and Safety Plans consistent with project requirements.
• Implement, oversee, review, and enforce Health and Safety Plan and Site Security Plan at the construction site for Halmar, subcontractors and consultants.
• Conduct, or otherwise prepare relevant jobsite toolbox safety meetings for delegates to conduct at the appropriate daily/weekly/monthly intervals.
• Maintain health, safety, and security project records, including those related to incidents requiring medical treatment beyond first aid and submitting said records for each incident to interested shareholders.
• Inspect and monitor Halmar and subcontractors’ jobsite activities, including all temporary construction activities and traffic control operations, and managing the correction of any unsafe conditions.
• Ensure compliance with state, federal, and local worker health and safety regulations.
• Conduct investigations of all accidents and reporting all accidents.
• Administer and supervise job site security, including job site compliance with Non-Disclosure requirements and provisions for site security.
• Develop and facilitate Health, Safety and Security training for the project.
• Assist with developing and monitoring safety recognition programs.
• Accompany employees to any work-related medical visits as needed.
• Prepare and present project performance reporting for Halmar leadership.

Qualifications and Experience, include but are not limited to:

• 10 years of experience in construction jobsite safety management on major heavy civil construction projects.
• Knowledge of Cal-OSHA and federal OSHA regulations.
• Extensive experience in developing and implementing Health and Safety Plans and construction site security plans for heavy civil construction, including major bridges.
• Knowledge of hazardous materials handling and worker safety procedures.
• Experienced in monitoring compliance with requirements for handling hazardous materials such as red lead paint and lead contaminated soil.
• Proficiency in timely and accurate record keeping and preparation of reports.
• Satisfactory safety record as a Safety Manager.
