SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

St. Louis Park is looking for Synchronized Swim Coaches to work in our swim program. We offer lessons to all ages and abilities, open swim times, private swim lessons, and group rentals. We are looking for people that are energetic, reliable, responsible, and can communicate well with the public. This role involves the instruction in technical skills, choreography, endurance, and teamwork while fostering a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provides the training and feedback for improvement for skill development appropriate for each class.
  • Maintains a safe environment for students.
  • Creates progress reports to students and records them in the database.
  • Develop and implement practice plans tailored to different skill levels (beginner to advanced).
  • Teach fundamental synchronized swimming skills, including figures, sculling, lifts, and routine execution.
  • Instruct students on breathing techniques, endurance training, and flexibility exercises.
  • Give constructive feedback and individual coaching to help students improve.
  • Ensure the safety of all in and around the pool area.
  • Enforce all school, and pool facility rules and guidelines.
  • Conduct warm-ups and cool-down exercises to prevent injuries.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and team-oriented environment.
  • Organize team-building activities to promote camaraderie and collaboration.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Communicate with students and adults.
  • Be on time.
  • Fundamentals of synchronized swimming, including sculling, figures, lifts, and routines.
  • Choreography and routine development for performances and competitions.
  • Strength, flexibility, and endurance training specific to synchronized swimming.
  • Proper breathing techniques, underwater control, and movement synchronization.
  • Age-appropriate coaching methods for different skill levels (beginner to advanced).
  • Individualized training techniques to support athlete development.
  • Teaching strategies for building coordination, rhythm, and teamwork.
  • Motivation and communication techniques to engage and inspire young students.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire students to reach their potential.
  • Strong team-building skills to create a supportive and positive environment.
  • Capability to manage team dynamics, resolve conflicts, and encourage sportsmanship.

  • Strength to assist struggling swimmers and respond to emergency situations if needed.
