We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to join our team in Suffolk, Virginia. This long-term contract position offers the opportunity to contribute to both administrative and accounting functions while serving as the first point of contact for visitors and callers. Serve as the front desk receptionist, greeting visitors and managing incoming phone calls.
Process accounts payable tasks, including invoice entry and coding to ensure accuracy.
Handle credit card receipt entries and verify proper categorization.
Sort and distribute incoming mail in a timely manner.
Order office supplies and maintain inventory levels as needed.
Match packing slips with corresponding invoices for reconciliation.
Assist with bank reconciliations and other accounting-related tasks.
Support administrative duties and perform additional assignments as required.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in an accounting or administrative role.
Proficiency in accounts payable processes and invoice coding.
Ability to perform bank reconciliations with attention to detail.
Strong communication skills for managing phone calls and visitor interactions.
Organizational skills to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
Experience with matching packing slips to invoices is preferred.
Familiarity with office supply ordering and inventory management.
Proficiency in basic computer applications, including accounting software.
