Automation Engineer | Coopersville, MI

Salary Range: $78,000 - $123,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement automation solutions using PLCs, HMIs, and robotics.
• Program, configure, and commission industrial control systems and software.
• Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair automated manufacturing equipment and machinery.
• Collaborate with production and engineering teams to integrate new automation technologies.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for automation-related issues.
• Develop and execute test plans for new automation systems and upgrades.
• Optimize manufacturing processes for efficiency, quality, and safety through automation.

Recommended Qualifications

• Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000) and HMI/SCADA development.
• Experience with industrial robotics programming, simulation, and integration (e.g., FANUC, KUKA, ABB).
• Strong understanding of industrial networking protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Profinet, OPC UA) and data acquisition systems.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair complex automated manufacturing systems.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Familiarity with process instrumentation, control loops (PID), and motor control systems.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with industrial vision systems for inspection and quality control.
• Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., SQL, Python, Power BI) for manufacturing process optimization.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices for operational technology (OT) environments.
• Understanding of IT/OT convergence and experience integrating automation systems with MES/ERP platforms.
