Automation Engineer | Grandville, MI

Salary Range: $84,000 - $129,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement new automation solutions for manufacturing processes.
• Program, configure, and troubleshoot industrial control systems including PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA.
• Conduct commissioning, testing, and validation of new and modified automation equipment.
• Optimize existing automation systems to improve production efficiency, quality, and safety.
• Provide technical support and resolve complex issues related to automation hardware and software.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for automation systems and procedures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements and integrate automation solutions.
• Ensure all automation solutions comply with safety standards, industry regulations, and company policies.

Recommended Qualifications

• Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000) and HMI/SCADA development.
• Strong understanding of industrial control systems, sensors, actuators, and industrial networking protocols.
• Experience with robotics, motion control systems, and/or industrial vision systems.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve complex automation issues in a manufacturing environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with industrial vision systems (e.g., Cognex, Keyence).
• Proficiency in industrial robot programming and integration (e.g., FANUC, KUKA, ABB).
• Familiarity with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) integration.
• Knowledge of industrial data historians (e.g., OSIsoft PI) and data analytics tools.
• Understanding of Operational Technology (OT) cybersecurity best practices.
